HealthSource RI, the arm of state government charged with implementing President Obama?s health care law in Rhode Island, has tapped Nail Communications to publicize the initial rollout of its new insurance marketplace.
Nail will produce advertising and ?collateral materials? including television and social-media advertisements to introduce Rhode Islanders to the so-called health-benefits exchange created by the Affordable Care Act, HealthSource RI spokesman Ian Lang announced Tuesday.
Lang told WPRI.com the contract won by Nail is worth about $250,000 and lasts through the end of September. HealthSource RI is preparing to spend roughly $2 million in federal money by March on the marketing push for the exchange, which will begin enrolling residents on Oct. 1.
?We face a pretty significant communication challenge, but one that?s not surprising,? Lang said. Only about 20% of Rhode Islanders said they?d heard about the exchange in a survey commissioned by HealthSource a few months ago, which Lang said fits with the situation in other states.
Providence-based Nail?was picked off the R.I. Division of Purchasing?s master price agreement list. The agency is perhaps best-known for its advertising campaign for The Providence Journal that used the slogan ?We work for the truth? and marketed the newspaper?s new digital paywall.
